We paid bills, updated our budget and finally prepared to leave Santa Fe Skies RV Park. We had to leave by 11 AM, but could not check into our next park until 12:00. We stopped for propane before leaving the resort, then drove south on I-25. When we reached Albuquerque, we turned west on I-40 for 9 miles to American RV Park; a total of 61 miles.
When I called for reservations, the gal had me in her computer. Turns out they are owned by the same people who own Basswood, were we stay in Missouri when visiting Bob’s brother. This is a nice park, with asphalt roads, gravel sites, a pool, and hot tub. We have 50 amp, FHU, with cable TV for $33/night with our Good Sam discount.
After setting up, we ate lunch, and set up a little more. There was a dead tree with some branches in the way, and we could not open our bedroom slide. The staff escorted us to the site, so the employee knew of the problem. He went back and sent another worker with a chair saw, who cut off the dead branches.
After all this was done, we went downtown to Chiller, a Frozen Custard shop, in Albuquerque. They also sell hot dogs and funnel cakes and are located across the street from the University of New Mexico, so they cater to the college kids. Neither of us have had frozen custard for years. It was wonderful! It really hit the spot on an 82 degree day. The temperature is warmer here, as we have dropped down to 5300 ft.
We returned to the motor home, walked the dogs, grilled chicken, and settled in to watch some TV. The dogs are having a great time, as they met new friends in the dog park at the RV park. There are also a lot of rabbits here, so they are on the hunt! Of course, they would not know what to do with one if they caught one, but neither they, nor the rabbits realize that!
