It was really wonderful to be able to take a nice long hot shower after we have been taking ‘sailor showers’ for the last two weeks. We did laundry. I quickly realized that I was not going to be able to get everything done, so Bob took the sheets and our heavy bath towels over to the laundry and did them there.
We decided to go out to lunch. There is no selection in town. The only restaurant was Fast Eddies. I had thought it would be a dive, but it wasn’t. It was kind of like a diner. Bob had a burger with beer batter fries and I had a hoagie club and took home half.
We went to the visitor center from there to pick up some of the brochures for the rest of the trip. We hadn’t bothered before now, as it did not make sense to carry them with us all around Alaska.
We cruised through the grocery store, picking up milk and fruit. A half gallon of milk, oranges, apples, bananas and cherries cost $34! Oh well, it’s only money!
We returned to the motor home to continue laundry and nap. I sat out reading until the mosquitos found me, then returned inside. This is the first time that we have put up the clothes drying rack on the back of the motor home, since it is not dusty here. It was beautiful out with temps in the 70’s, no humidity and bright blue skies!
We grilled some halibut and ate dinner. We watched a DVD and went to bed. Not a real exciting day!
