ALASKA FACT– State Motto “North to the Future”
Here was our overnight camping spot.
We left Chicken at about 9AM, as we were only driving 80 miles to Tok. When Wayne and Margie were here 3 years ago, the road from Chicken to the Teslin Junction ( Alaska Hwy.) was all paved. Not any more. We kept hitting patches of gravel that they were had pulled up the pavement and covered with gravel. We also noted that in all directions the forest had a fire sometime in the recent past. There were burnt trees in all directions.
As we were driving out of town, Wayne spotted a moose, but he ran off as soon as Wayne started slowing down so we missed him.
We turned north onto the Alaskan Hwy, and went 12 more miles to Tok.
Tok is a small town which is located right along both sides of the Alaskan Hwy. We are staying here two nights at Tundra RV Park, $35. To our delight, we had 50 amp FHU.
We set up the rig, then ran into town to look in the gift shops. From there we went to their little grocery store. We bought a few items and returned to take a nap.
Margie and Wayne came over for dinner. We sat talking afterwards, then went to bed.
