ALASKA FACT- State Capitol- Juneau
We started off with a quiet morning. At 10:20, we left to go to the fairgrounds to see the vendors for the 4th of July celebration. Not many there. Only one lady with some crafts and some food tents.
The parade started at 11 AM, about 1 1/2 miles away. No walkers, only people on vehicles. They close down the Alaska Hwy and the Richardson Hwy ( Rt. 4 which goes to Anchorage) for the parade, since these are their main streets.
As you can tell it was not much of a parade!
After the parade, they had the raising of the flag, where we all sang the Star Spangle Banner.
The wind picked up and the one of the tents flew off. Then this horse was spooked and it took off. I did not get a picture of him running, as I was trying to get out of the way. The guy talking to the horse, not the owner, got him calmed down.
I had a hamburger and chips, Bob had a slice of pizza. Bob, Wayne and Margie were waiting for the reindeer brats, but the people who were cooking them had issues. First their tent blew away, then we are not sure what else happened, as they ended up not cooking them. So Bob had a super taco, which was on fried Indian bread.
We left there and returned to the motor home, took a nap, ate dinner, and went over to Margie and Wayne’s to watch My Cousin Vinnie. We had never seen the movie and it was pretty good.
