Wednesday- Liard Hot Springs BC to Watson Lake YT

We left Liard Hot Springs BC behind at about 8:30, traveling to Watson Lake YT.  It seemed to be a bison and bear kind of day! We saw several of both animals beside the road.

We even saw a small bear, possibly 3 years old, who was watching us go flying by. I missed getting a picture.  We also missed a moose, but just a few seconds. An RV ahead of us stopped and it scared the young moose, so it took off into the trees.

The weather was great! Warm and sunny… So far the roads had been nice, but when we hit the Yukon border, they deteriorated. Heard from friends Tom and Marian, that they take three years working on the roads. First year, clear and put down dirt. Second year put down gravel, third years seal the gravel. We are evidently in year two! Another rock hit the windshield, just below the previous ding. Oh well, it is very small and we can see the awesome scenery perfectly!

We arrived in Watson Lake at about 1:30, pulling into Downtown RV Park. There was a line! We had reservations for one night, but changed our minds and are doing two nights. The owner of the park is a bit of a character, but agreed to allow us to stay two nights.

We set up, started laundry, I uploaded the blog, and we went to the grocery store. We were out of milk, croutons, tomatoes, bread, and cheese. Wow, expensive!!! We also ran over to the very limited YT liquor store to buy beer and wine.

We have cable TV, so we were able to watch Seattle TV station. It was still warm when we went to bed. Speaking of bed, Bob is having an issue with his side of our sleep number. Yep, it is deflating. We think he might have sprung an air leak in the mattress, as my side is fine.
