We woke up to temps in the high 60’s and clouds. We entered Arches National Park
at a little after 9:30 AM. We stopped at the Visitor Center, but there wasn’t much there. So we drove on the park road. This is the great wall, that the road runs along when you first enter the park.
Our first stop was at the Park Avenue Viewpoint. The name Park Avenue came from the earlier visitors to the park who thought that this canyon looked like Wall Street in New York.
The next stop was the Courthouse Towers Viewpoint.
We continued on to the Petrified Dunes Viewpoint.
This is the famous balance rock.t
This is Delicate Arch.
This is from Fiery Furnace Viewpoint. Note the rain coming on the right side.
The formations are formed by water dripping between the rocks and then freezing, forming the fissures in the sandstone. This is an example above.
To get to Sand Dune Arch, we had to walk through these canyons.
Note the beach like sand that we had to walk through, but it was worth it!
While walking back to the car, eagle eye Bob stopped this little fellow. He is a Collared Lizard.
This is Skyline Arch.
We continued to the Devil’s Garden where we had our picnic lunch in this picnic area.
Note all the different colors. The pictures do not do them justice.
These are the caves at Cove of Caves.
North and South Window Arch’s
We had seen everything that we wanted to see on the 24 mile drive, so we headed out of the park. As we were leaving, it started raining. We drove through Moab, stopping at the City Market. We returned to the motor home and it was still raining pretty hard. The temperature had dropped to 61 degrees! We took a nice nap, grilled pork shops on the Cuisinart Grill, watched TV and went to bed.

Wow looks incredible. Maybe we will get there this winter after we get back from Mexico with Chapter 8 “Mexican Connection”. Getting ready for my surgery on Sept. 27.
